Spring 2026 9th-12th grade musical
Les Misérables
School Edition
Auditions: January 31 and February 1
Everyone gets a part!
We’re excited to present Les Misérables School Edition as our Fall 2025 9th-12th grade musical! The school edition is a version of the full musical that has been edited for time and content for youth performers. Everyone is welcome to participate no matter what type of previous experience you have. We have youth who have been performing for years as well as those who have never been on stage before.
Les Mis takes places in nineteenth century France. Jean Valjean is released from years of unjust imprisonment but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a lifelong struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert, who refuses to believe Valjean can change his ways. Finally, during the Paris student uprising of 1832, Javert must confront his ideals after Valjean spares his life and saves that of the student revolutionary who has captured the heart of Valjean’s adopted daughter.

Parent Information
We’ll be having a cast and parent meeting at our first Sunday practice on February 15th. At this meeting we’ll introduce ourselves, outline expectations of our performers, go over the attendance policy, and more. Additionally, we’ll go over opportunities for parents to get involved. As an all-volunteer program, we need your help as a parent to make sure things run smoothly for the kids! We’re in need of volunteers through the season, whether it’s bringing in snacks, watching kids during practices, selling concessions on show nights, setup/breakdown, or more.
The cost for our performing arts musical class is for $175. This cost goes towards scripts, props, costumes, and more, and includes a cast t-shirt. If you need financial assistance, please do not hesitate to let us know. Please email us for confidential scholarship information.
Les Misérables Auditions | Jackson Arts Ministry
At Jackson Arts Ministry, we approach every production prayerfully and thoughtfully. Les Misérables is a powerful story, and with that power come elements that require discernment. We want you to know that we are fully aware of the challenges within this show.
We have chosen to move forward because the heart of Les Misérables has themes throughout that echo the Gospel itself: repentance, mercy, forgiveness, and redemption. Jean Valjean’s journey from brokenness to grace reminds us that no one is beyond transformation when love intervenes.
Our team is carefully reviewing the script and score line by line. We are modifying language and sensitively approaching certain themes, while honoring the integrity of the story and its message. Our goal is not to dilute the narrative, but to present it in a way that aligns with our faith, our values, and our calling as a ministry.
If you are auditioning, know that you are stepping into more than a theatrical experience. You are joining a ministry that seeks to tell meaningful stories with excellence, care, and purpose.
In Christ’s Love,
Pastor Denise
